Crown of Many Selves
Stepping far back through the corridors of time to the ninth century, Crown of Many Selves places Baby Simetra at the heart of a royal court where an inevitable coronation awaits. The work explores identity, legacy and the multiplicity of ambition, mapping the inner versions of the future king and how he envisions his sovereign power.
Weaving together historical majesty and modern subtext, the composition features hidden British pound currency layered subtly behind the palace walls: a quiet nod to commercial heritage embedded within the royal lineage. Encircling this narrative are symbolic animal archetypes, each projecting a vital pillar of himself.
Owl: wisdom and silent observation. Wolf: loyalty and leadership. Koi fish: perseverance through turbulent waters, transformation and luck. Bear: raw, unshakeable strength, grounded authority and formidable presence. Butterfly: metamorphosis, delicate fragility and the constant evolution of identity.
